Portfolio
Following are some examples of my recent work:
Montana Wilderness Association http://www.wildmontana.org
Montana Wilderness Association is Montana's premier wilderness organization, dedicated to preserving Montana's wilderness heritage, quiet beauty, and outdoor traditions, now and for future generations.
This site uses dropdown menus for main topics, with sidebar navigation for subtopics; internal pages sport a static header for download efficiency. Extensive maps, campaigns and programs with pages mostly client controlled through a separate administrative area.
Special features: Dynamic interactive Flash map, Flash slideshow gallery, online calendar and a content management system that allows the client control over the News area and a host of other pages.
Association of Nature Center Administrators http://www.natctr.org
The Association of Nature Center Administrators promotes and supports best leadership and management practices for the nature and environmental learning center profession.
This site sports simple but attractive pages, and is a good example of a wholly client-managed website. A sophisticated, customized content management system provides control over every page, including dropdown menus, slideshows, a members-only area, and an interactive Google map of past annual meeting locations.
Special features: Dynamic interactive maps, random header images to keep pages fresh, members-only area, slideshows, and a content management system that allows the client control over the entire website.
Los Médicos Voladores http://www.flyingdocs.org
Los Médicos Voladores, a.k.a. "The Flying Docs," is a volunteer-based nonprofit organization that helps improve the health and well-being of the peoples of Mexico and Central America through the provision of no-cost, high-quality healthcare and health education clinics in rural villages.
The homepage set against a steel-blue background presents visitors with overhead tab navigation that continues throughout each internal page—a viewer always knows where they are, yet the full page width contains content—no sidebar column navigation is necessary. Online membership registration and donations, an automated sign-up/confirmation form with client control, and extensive use of a content management system allows the client control over content that frequently requires updating.
Special features: Extensive online signup forms, dynamic slideshows, and extensive client-based page management.
Wild Heaven Productions, LLC http://www.wildheaven.com
Wild Heaven Productions, LLC, is a media services company specializing in wildlife and environmental film, photography, videography and writing.
A clean, crisp homepage presents visitors with simple but effective navigation that continues throughout each internal page—a viewer always knows where they are in this 100+ page site that has links to photographic galleries, portfolios, online ordering, featured projects, and numerous optimized database images for an effective and dynamic Web presentation.
Special features: Two full-featured dynamic database-driven photo galleries with online ordering.
Nushagak-Mulchatna Wood-Tikchik Land Trust http://www.nmwtlandtrust.org
The NMWT Land Trust is a nonprofit land trust dedicated to the preservation of wild salmon habitat in Southwest Alaska.
This is an example of an older site that has aged well despite its use of relatively outdated web techniques. The simple but colorful homepage attracts visitors desiring to learn more about Southwest Alaska's salmon and the land trust's efforts to protect wild salmon habitat. Drop-down navigation is quick and unambiguous throughout this 100+ page site, with links to stunning satellite maps, landscape images, interactive maps, history, and graphical depictions of the salmon life cycle.
Special features: Dynamic interactive photo maps, flash maps, and most site content written by yours truly.
