Phase I: Riverton and Dubois Libraries

Phase I of the LIFT project is devoted to the Fremont County Libraries in Riverton and Dubois, and was projected to cost approximately $500,000. Fremont County submitted a matching grant application to the State Lands Board for this phase of the project, but was unsuccessful. Major goals are:
Riverton Library Skylight
When it rains, it leaks buckets! The huge skylight that provides much natural lighting to the Riverton Library is plagued by unrepairable leaks and has disintegrated to the point where it is now a safety concern. Our goal was to replace it with a safe and energy efficient clerestory roof. This project was completed thanks to the support of the Fremont County Commissioners.
Riverton Library Lighting System
For years, library patrons have suffered from poor lighting conditions in nearly every book aisle. Reading the spine titles of many shelf books has proved too difficult, and supplemental lighting has failed to correct the problem. The new lighting system will solve this long-standing complaint of many Riverton library patrons. This project is nearing completion thanks to the support of the Fremont County Commissioners.

Dubois Library Cooling System
The new 6,000 square foot Dubois Library was cool in everything but temperature! Overheating was particularly uncomfortable for patrons during late summer afternoons. This project was completed thanks to the stewardship of the Fremont County Library Board.
Improved Access for People with Disabilities
Both the Riverton and Dubois Library are inconvenient for patrons in wheel chairs or who have other disabilities. Doors are difficult to open, only one handicapped parking space is available, and crowded aisles make it almost impossible to access books. Some of our community residents who are most in need of the library's services must do without them. The renovation would provide easier access for people with disabilities.![]()
