Q. Do you only build websites for nonprofits?
A. Nope, we build websites for all kinds of businesses, but we specialize in websites for education, community and public service, conservation, environment and green business because we support their good works.
Q. What will my website cost?
A. That depends on many factors: size, features, special functions, etc. Once we understand the scope of your web project, we'll provide an estimated cost range, or if you prefer, a firm estimate.
Q. Why do nonprofits receive a discount?
A. We like working with nonprofits and realize they often don't have the deep pockets of commercial business. It's our way of showing respect for the important work they do in our society while keeping their websites affordable.
Q. What makes your service special?
A. Unlike a lot of web services, we don't just build your website and forget about you. Once you become our client, we become your Web advisor. That means you may contact us whenever you wish with changes to or questions about your Website or email service and we'll respond promptly, often immediately. Our long-term clients will tell you that we're particularly good at translating web jargon into plain English. We've all worked as educators and it shows.
Q. Why do you offer an hour of free consultation each month?
A. Many of our clients have occasional questions or minor website changes that are easily resolved, and we want to encourage them to contact us without worrying about cost.
Q. How do we know our website won't be outdated in a few years?
A. You don't. The web is changing constantly, adapting to new trends and technology. What works well today, may be old-school tomorrow. What we can promise is that we're here to help you make good, cost-effective decisions and keep your website up to date.
Q. Dirt-cheap website hosting is everywhere. What makes your service better?
A. Cheap hosts throw your website onto servers that are shared with hundreds of other websitesall competing for limited server resources. So many websites often dramatically slow a server's response time, making your pages load slowly. If one of those websites contains malware, your site may get infected too, even bringing it down. In contrast, our dedicated servers host only our limited client websites, not the general public, and we monitor them constantly to provide maximum up time. All our website creation tools and applications are available on our servers, we put back more power into the grid than we use, and we're usually available on your first try or else respond quickly if you need us.
Q. Who owns our website and domain name?
A. We may have created your website, but YOU own it. If we register your domain name, you (or your designee) will ALWAYS be listed as the owner and Puffinworks only as your administrator. Annual domain name registration renewal ($20) will be included in your annual hosting invoice, and we'll assist you if you ever wish to move your domain to another location.
